    • BXF Trigger Action for Silverlight

Hello, I'm using CSLA 4.5.30 with my silverlight MVVM application. I have a viewModel class deriving from ViewModelBase, which does not have any BeginRefersh() call in my constructor. Calls to BeginRefresh() are event driven. I am putting BXF Trigger Action for Loaded event of textbox. Method adds...

    • Issue with Silverlight with bxf in CSLA 4.0 factory model with fetching data

My Dev team is having issues to incorporate Silverlight with Bxf in the CSLA 4.0 Factory Model, that has to call the wcf to fetch the data from database. Has anybody faced similar issues? Any help in this regard is appreciated as we are hitting the wall at this time!

    • Re: Child ViewModels?

Hi! I don't use Bxf but I prefer to use a loose messaging system. With Prism there is the EventAggregator, which I use extensively. I strongly encourage you to decouple your view models instead of coupling them. Good luck! Etienne

    • Edit level mismatch in UndoChanges - only when I have a broken rule

I have a Silverlight 4 application and just recently added some validation to one of my root object's children. One of their fields value must be greater than 1, so I added a new business rule: BusinessRules.AddRule( new Csla.Rules.CommonRules. MinValue < int >(MyProperty,1)); The children...

    • Re: I need a little bit of help

This whole thread should be in the Bxf forum at http://bxf.codeplex.com - it has nothing to do with CSLA... Bxf assumes that views subclass UserControl. The assumption is that your entire UI is composed of UserControl subclassed views that are "hosted" or displayed in regions that are contained...

    • Re: Bxf's ShowView and managing sub-views

You should ask this in the bxf discussion forum on codeplex. The short answer is that this isn't supported. Bxf is designed to support some relatively basic scenarios for the purpose of teaching people the concepts of MVVM, writing CSLA demos, and building relatively straightforward apps. To make...

    • Re: ProjectEdit / CollectionViewSource question

It is hooked up via Bxf. See the section in the ebook that discusses how Bxf works, and specifically how it creates and initializes the view.

    • Different views on TabControl

I'm trying to write a program that uses tabs to hold different usercontrols. What I currently want to happen is the user clicks a find button, a new tab is created, and a find screen appears inside it. Using the find screen the user can select clients and these then open in their own new tabs allowing...

    • Re: Bxf Caching

This thread should really be on http://bxf.codeplex.com The idea in Bxf is that your provider (the code handling the OnShowView event) should do any/all of this work. Or the view factory. Who sets that cache parameter? The code that calls the ShowView method? Why would we want code scattered all over...

    • Bxf Caching

I've been playing with a CSLA 4/Silverlight/MVVm project. One of things I've had trouble with is transitions when loading a new view. I've found that caching the view part fixed most of the problem except on the first load. I've modified the BxF source I'm using to support this. I...

    • Re: CSLA and MVVM frameworks 2011?

I take your point about automated testing Rocky, and this is very much at the top of my list of priorities going forward. Final two questions: 1. I do like what PRISM offers in terms of extensbility and it is reasonably well documented. Would it make sense, and would it work if I used Bxf as the MVVM...

    • CSLA and MVVM frameworks 2011?

I'm new to MVVM and I'm struggling to make a decision on which MVVM framework to adopt. We use CSLA extensively on the app server side, but not currently within our WinForms client apps which are 2-tier apps using an SOA architecture - i.e. loosely coupled from the server. Some of these apps...

    • Dataportal error not sent to Silverlight client

Hi have a Sliverlight mvvm project. And everything seems to be working. I can retrieve and update so the dataportal must be working. But when I insert this line in the fetch method, just for testing purposes, the program stops in the debugger with the message: "Exception was unhandled by user code"...

    • Silverlight4 - MVVM - item drag & drop implementation question

Hi, I am currently looking to implement drag & drop functionality in a Silverlight 4 application (in this particular case a treeview) using MVVM (and CSLA 4.0.1). So far I found a number of examples for Silverlight including the folowing: http://www.dotnetcurry.com/ShowArticle.aspx?ID=511 http:/...

    • Object of type 'Bxf.Xaml.ExecuteEventArgs' cannot be converted to type 'Csla.Xaml.ExecuteEventArgs'.

As far as I can tell I'm following the demo code from the MVVM videos very closely but when clicking save to create a new entry I get the subject error. This occurs in the BXF code in: Bxf.Xaml.TriggerAction.CallMethod ( object sender, EventArgs e) while it's doing this: targetMethod.Invoke(target...

    • Child NVL combobox control not generated from DataSources in VS2010

Hi all, I am experiencing behaviours which I hope you will be able to explain to me. This should be very simple but I can't get it to work properly. What am I missing? I am using VS2010, CLSA 4.0.1, Silverlight 4 and bxf. I created a root user object which contains a child NameValueList property...

Hi Hannes Mostly, I've done this using a Dependency Property on the ViewModel for that list of Roles and then I simply bind the ComboBox's ItemSource to that dependency property. Important thing is to ensure that the dependency property is populated before your model is populated, or the binding...

    • NullReference exception in CSLA 3.8.4 Silverlight when using PropertyStatus control and BXF

After adding a property status control to my View (which is bound to a ViewModel via a CollectionViewSource as per MVVM video series), I get a null reference exception (deep in the depths of CSLA) when I show the view from the presenter. If I remove the property status this does not happen. Here's...
