• Re: DataGridView error saving businesslistbase

This is Windows Forms right? You need to unbind the object from the UI before saving, otherwise data binding maintains currency to one item in the collection. As a result, the edit level for that one item is elevated - hence the exception you are seeing. There is a specific way you need to unbind. This...

    • DisableIEditableObject and DevExpress Grids works great - really?

FYI, I'm using CSLA 3.0.5 in this project (I know, it's a really old version), DevExpress XtraGrid version 10.1, in a WinForms application. I'm playing around with setting DisableIEditableObject to true, in an application that uses Dev Express grids. It appears to me that this works perfectly...

    • Cancel() on BindingSourceNode doesn't seem to work properly.

I have been struggling with edit level problems the past few days since I can only find scarce information on the subject. I have a BO with an child list and the objects in that child list each have their own child list. I'm using BindingSourceHelper and BindingSourceNode to be able to edit the details...

    • Re: Full sample library with winforms UI

If you have the ebook series, follow the samples from the Data Access ebook. Those samples show every stereotype. The only thing you need to do differently for Windows Forms is to have the collections subclass the "BindingList" base classes - like BusinessBindingListBase instead of BusinessListBase...

    • Re: Full CSLA.NET Sample for N-Tier

The one thing to keep in mind, new with CSLA 4, is that you need to use the "BindingList" collection base classes. So BusinessBindingListBase instead of BusinessListBase. Those "BindingList" types exist to support Windows Forms, because Windows Forms data binding (having not changed...

    • Re: Full CSLA.NET Sample for N-Tier

Because Windows Forms hasn't changed in many years, you don't need a current sample to see how it works. The best sample is the version 3.6 or 3.7 ProjectTracker application. Though you'll want to look at the 4.2 ProjectTracker to see how the business classes are put together.

    • Re: BusinessListBase vs BusinessBindingListBase
Besides sharing the experience, I think this also raises a point. If we must use BusinessBindingListBase for Windows Forms and BusinessListBase for WPF/Silverlight, suppose my application has both clients. I need to have duplicated Business*ListBase classes...

    • Re: BusinessListBase vs BusinessBindingListBase
In 3.8.4 there was one type of collection to support all UI technologies. And it worked, right? What has changed that you made two separate collections in 4.x versions? It was change in .NET 4.0 version or what?
That statement is not correct. In 3.x...

    • Copy / Duplicate child BO

I've been ask by my client to add a "duplicate" function to my windows form application in VB.NET 2005, using CSLA 2. I'm looked into the copy of the object. I tried to use the following code, but it's not doing what I need. Public Shared Function NewCost(ByVal oldCost As Customer...

    • SmartDate - I want textbox to be empty

Hi I'm at the end of my options with the SmartDate. This is my code. Private _contrSdtDt As SmartDate = New SmartDate(True) Public Property ContrSdtDt() As DateTime Get CanReadProperty("ContrSdtDt", True) Return _contrSdtDt.Date End Get Set(ByVal value As DateTime) CanWriteProperty("ContrSdtDt"...
