• ViewModelBase performance, solution

I'm experiencing some terrible performance with ViewModelBase (WPF) class. If changing Model properties or adding items to list, profiler is returning results that are hundreds of times slower then expected. I figured out that such performance is because of events attached in HookChangedEvents method...

    • Re: DynamicListBase and WPF lost exception

That is possible. The ViewModelBase class was designed around BB and BLB, with support for ROB and ROLB. DLB is a very different construct, with very different behaviors. And at the time we wrote this code Microsoft didn't have a WPF datagrid control that actually worked with any rich collection...

    • Re: DynamicListBase and WPF lost exception

I see. I think this is a mismatch between ViewModelBase and DynamicListBase. Not necessarily a bug either, just a side-effect of the way things work. DLB doesn't ever get saved itself, and the object saving infrastructure in VMB is all around saving the root object. So the viewmodel's OnSaved...

    • How to restore object after exception during saving?

I need advise about restoring original object after Saving failed. Here is what I am doing: I use ViewModelBase for my WPF application with ManageObjectLifetime set to false, since I want to control it myself. 1. "Edit" button pressed, I call ISupportUndo.BeginEdit. Object considered to be...

    • DoRefresh behavior if DataPortalException thrown

Hi all, Playing with CSLA 4 preview. Just a small WPF test application. Right now the behavior of DoRefresh is to catch any DataPortal exception and set the Error property on the ViewModel. In many (if not all) scenarios, I want to "blank out" all bound controls in such situation, so I'd...

    • Re: Best practice for using CSLA.NET with MVVM pattern

Hi Rocky, How do you determine in your ViewModel constructors whether you are creating a new instance of the model or refreshing an existing instance? Do you not require logic to determine the factory method on the business object to call?

    • Re: Best practice for using CSLA.NET with MVVM pattern

Hi Rocky, our views are instantiating the view models through the WPF binding engine - i.e. each viewmodel is a resource on the associated view. This requires a parameterless constructor. Currently the Model property of each ViewModel is being set in its constructor using an IoC container. However, we...

    • Re: Implementation of Edit mode

Hi Rocky, I managed to create a custom PropertyStatus control derived from your type, with just the following changes: private object _source = null; changed to protected object _source = null; private string _bindingPath = string.Empty; changed to protected string _bindingPath = string.Empty; private...

    • Re: Implementation of Edit mode

Hi Rocky, I've implemented my own PropertyStatus control by creating a derived type from yours (with a few minor changes to your code). I will send these changes across when everything is complete, but I am now at the stage where I wish to set the MaxLength property of TextBox controls based on the...

    • Re: WPF Validation not firing initially for new Enitity creation
This typically means the UI renders without any validation or data - just the basic controls. And when the async object arrives it is bound and that's the point at which both data and validation appear.
Ooops! There was a bug on my part which was creating...
