    • WCF formatter errors when using WCF data portal.

I am using CSLA version 4.1.0. When I run the test code with the data portal proxy set to 'local' in app.config the entiire code runs fine. However when using WCF portal hosted in IIS the following error message comes up when attempting to save my business object: The formatter threw an exception...

    • Re: update problem with wcf remote dataportal using http binding

Hi I find most problems by enabling my logging statements. For example, an entry is logged for DataPortal calls and DataPortal_ZZZ. Maybe you load parts lazy and therefore, fetching is below the limit. Or include the following in your config files (client and server side) and use the Service Trace Viewer...

    • WCF Timeout problem

From my Silverlight client I'm asynchronously calling a long-running stored procedure on the server (~25 mins). The problem I'm getting is a timeout exception at the client after 10 minutes. I've tried increasing the WCF client and server timeouts (receive, send, open, close) to 2 hours,...

    • iis config help

hi everyone. I have a winforms app running through a wcfhost (app server), setup pretty much like the ProjectTracker example (csla 3.6.3) using csla authentication. The problem I'm having is that unless (on the client - using user accounts -> manage your network passwords) I store the user credentials...

    • WCF size limits for tcp vs http bindings

In this previous thread , Rocky mentioned that "the size limits are just as real with the WCF tcp bindings as the http bindings. The specific settings and configuration may be different, but the limits are still there." I'm just wondering why I haven't run into the limits using the...

    • Re: Best practice 3-tier WCF authentication

The general recommendation is to use SSL. That is secure, and is the easiest thing to get working. Surely you'd use that between the browser and your web server. Between the web server and the app server most people don't use an encrypted transfer. But if you need to (due to HIPPA or something...

    • Best practice 3-tier WCF authentication

We are developing an ASP.NET MVC 3 application using CSLA in 3-tier remoting mode using WCF communication between the external facing hosted app computer and behind the firewall app server computer. What is the recommended best practice to secure the communication between the tiers? I’ve read older...

    • Re: CSLA authorization problem

You need to override Csla.DataPortalClient.WcfProxy to pass client credentials through WCF to the server. The default proxy assumes a pretty simple WCF connection to the data portal endpoint on the server. This is discussed in some depth in the Using CSLA 4: Data Portal Configuration ebook available...

    • Re: Silverlight data portal using net.tcp binding - is this possible?

I think I missed that SL4 added this... The binding should work fine, but there's no sample specifically for SL. The only thing I suspect might be different from using that binding in .NET, is that (at least in SL3) your server needs to listen for a specific request from SL to grant SL permission...

    • Re: Which authetication can we use in CSLA.net WCF?

The Using CSLA 4: Data Portal Configuration ebook is the most comprehensive source of information on this topic (from http://store.lhotka.net ). There are two levels of authentication: application and transport. The data portal works with the .NET principal to help you implement application level authentication...
